What I learned in high-school

I have decided to write this post here not only because I think this is an international issue, but also because I don't want my potato-headed classmates to get offended-again. High-school is supposed to be that great period in your life when you have not a care in the world, party your booty off and try to learn some things which will help you during life.

Now, that you got the idyllic image in your mind, let me tell you about MY high-school experiences. In the first post I made, I mentioned that I took two years of acting, and now I'm planning to switch high-schools. This post is, in fact, a short list of why I'm leaving.

  1. Stupidity is at high rank. The more stupid you are, the more popular you are, and everybody is DYING to hang out with you. I suggest you go hang yourselves.
  2. Nobody cares you're smart. From your dull classmates, to your teachers, intelligence is something nobody cares about. I can frankly say that in two years I only met four teachers who were actually interested in the children. I have to admit, the high-school I'm currently in is not exactly brilliant. So, if you have a smart and working student, like me, you shouldn't treat him/her like crap. Except the four teachers mentioned, none of the others cared about hard-work. I found this deeply sad, given the fact that I had given up my chance of going to a much better high-school in order to follow my passion, which was acting. I have to be honest and say that there were two more teachers who did their job every time, with passion, despite us having been nasty to them.
  3. Gossip ALL the people! Whether you're a student or a teacher, gossiping the others who work more than you is what you really have to do in class. Not teaching or learning, that's for noobs.
  4. The more you work, the less you get. Oh, so you worked your ass off for a play? Here, let me not tell you about the rehearsal! Oh, you did it again, you silly piece of poop? Here, let me give your role to some bitch who can't even read the names right!
And the list could go on for pages. I'd be a bitch not to admit I'll be missing a couple teachers and a couple class-mates, though. So, after two years of acting, what have I decided? That I'll be studying business and advertising. Long live incompetence!

A poem about worms

It's almost 3 a.m., so my mind is pretty dumb right now. I was playing "truth or dare" with my crush, when suddenly, his wild idea appeared:

Le Crush: i dare you to write a poem about worms

So, I did. I'm not sure if this is my worst poem ever or my most epic one.

I love it when I see you
All so long and soft. Digging
A whole through the dirty
Ground is what really turns
Me on. This poem is shit,
And so it my imagination right
Now-it’s not my fault I have a
Horrible crush.

Crush's reaction:

Le Crush: oh god
Le Crush: you are epic

And this was pretty awkward, since poems are lyricist, not epic...

Music Nowadays

Lately, I've seen a lot of posts all over the internet complaining that music nowadays is just bullcrap. Even in real life, my friends [OH MA GAWD, I HAVE FRIENDS, OMG OMG OMG yes, yes I do, in fact] keep saying that "music is not good anymore". And this thing annoys the hell out of me. Everybody is saying that "Oh, The Beatles, ABBA, Bob Marley, this is REAL music, not the abusive things you hear today!" Do you think that 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s music was all great? Do you think those times didn't have their crappy "artists"? They existed from the very beginning, but their songs didn't make through time. Obviously. So, you think that all today's music is crap? Well, excuse me, ladies and gentlemen, but WHO THE HELL MAKES YOU LISTEN TO CRAPPY MUSIC?! Everybody keeps saying "Oh, Justin Bieber is gay! Oh, Lady Gaga is crap!", making lame "artists" even more popular. If you think that Nicki Minaj, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Keisha and the others are music, then there's definitely something wrong with you. Our generation has great bands, too! If they are not mainstream and do not infect your eyes and ears everywhere, it doesn't mean they don't exist. Let's not forget Foo Fighters, Marilyn Manson, Rammstein, Korn, Depeche Mode, Franz Ferdinand, Blink 182, Bloodhound Gang and others, who make music industry great. Remember that music is your choice. And instead of complaining of how bad today's music is, find the bands that are good and promote them.

P.S.: If you want good music, forget about MTV. Switch to VH1.

How to pick a guy

I don't mean to seem shallow, but I'm very picky when it comes to boys I like or date. I have a few criteria to guide me into (dis-)liking them. I'm not talking about being smart [this is the very first thing on the list, if he's not smart, he ain't got a chance with me], this post is just about looks and behaviour.

  1. Eyebrows-This is a very important thing. Although I'm not shallow enough to dislike a guy just because his eyebrows are not gorgeous. But it's good if he has TWO of them, and not a unibrow. [So far, I've only met one guy with amazing, beautiful natural eyebrows.]
  2. Nails-Probably the most important thing. Once you get to spend a little time with him, you can take a quick look at his fingernails. If they are big and dirty, clearly, the guy isn't for me. I like cut and clear nails, which show that the guy isn't some dirty faggot who probably uses his dirty boxers to decorate his room walls.
  3. The handshake-The moment of truth has come. The handshake. As everybody knows, a strong handshake stands for an assertive person and leaves a very good first impression. If his hand [or hers, why not? I usually shake girls' hands, too, and it is awful...] feels like a blown-out balloon, besides being AWFUL, it also gives you the feeling that the person is not somebody you'd like to have contact with. In my case, both men and women who can't shake a damn hand are not to be liked by me.
  4. The booty-Yes, I admit it, if I have the chance, I take a sneak-peak when he turns around. It's not important, but it's eye-candy. :-)
  5. The clothes-Yes, it's very important for him not to have a big logo of the brand on his clothes. If he does, he's automatically a douche. If he doesn't, then the clothes should be clean. If the clothes are clean, then everything's alright. [If they are also ironed, it's even better.]
This is pretty much everything I can think of right now. I guess I should say that this is not a real guide, it's just my way of picking the guys I like and the ones I don't. If this is helpful to anybody, then I'm glad! :-)

Crushes

I’m still not sure what made me consider this as a possible subject. Therefore, I blame it on the one person who makes me feel somehow special these days. :)

Crushes. I’m sure everybody’s got one, or had one, at least once. We start by feeling that we may actually like that person, and end up  making wedding plans. I’m not going to talk about love, due to my cynic way of thinking. [I don’t believe in love, I believe in fear of being lonely] But crushes are different. They come and go, and the feelings can actually be described as somehow…. pure. It’s not a very strong feeling you have about a particular person, but thinking of him/her makes you feel good. What’s more, knowing that they also think about you makes you feel...silly.

The best part about a crush, is the short oh-my-God-I-feel-so-damn-happy feeling, which almost never lasts for more than a couple weeks. And yet, this may be the start of a relationship, friendship [friendzoned!] or even marriage. And if not, simply having a crush on somebody can be considered as one of the simple things in life that make you feel better.

Personally, the best part about having feelings for somebody is the smile. That one, particular smile which appears in the corner of your mouth, every time you think about that one person.

Those who know me from my other blog may not recognize any of me in this post. But hell, I'm happy, and I will act as well. I'm not going to make this blog all lovely and whiny, I can assure all of you of this, but sometimes, my happiness overcomes my bitchiness.

Dedicated to my crush.

Have a nice day,
Mary

Welcome and farewell

*Yes. I got the title from a Muse song, it's not something I came up with.*

I thought it would be nice to respect the tradition of a welcome-to-my-blog post. First of all, I'm not a native English speaker, so don't be too harsh on my English skills. I'm doing my best. Some may know me from my other blog. I made this one because I felt Romania is no longer enough for me, and when I made "Citeşte şi Taci!" [tr. "Read and Shut Up!"] I also made a promise to myself I'll keep it Romanian. I feel like I should say some things about myself and what I intend to post here, so... here we go:

  1. I go by the nickname Mary, which is very close to my real name [which I dislike].
  2. I'm a teenager, I guess, but I often act childish or too mature.
  3. The only balance in my life can be set by extremes. I go left and then right, but never the middle.
  4. I've been studying acting for two years, but I'm planning on giving up due to a drastic change in my mind and life.
  5. I love animals and I worship cats.
  6. I write a lot, although I don't think I'm very talented.
  7. I don't have any brothers or sisters, but I like to think I'm not selfish.
  8. I'll gladly share my food with animals, but not with people [except people and need and best friends].
  9. Classical music relaxes me and helps me work.
  10. I love scented candles, scented sticks and perfumes.
  11. My favourite colours are green and black.
  12. I'm trying to be lady-like, because I don't agree with being a slutty teenager.
  13. I feel as if English is my second language.
  14. I love blue nail-polish, although I don't do my manicure very often.
  15. I read science magazines, unlike other girls my age.
  16. I don't eat pork. [I'm not Jewish, I just don't eat pork.]
  17. I enjoy studying religions of the world.
  18. My purpose in life is accumulating as much knowledge as possible.

Random stuff:
  • Favourite cartoons: Family Guy, American Dad, South Park.
  • Favourite T.V. shows: LOST, Sex And The City, The Big Bang Theory, Friends, Desperate Housewives.
  • Favourite bands: Type O Negative, Metallica, Rammstein, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Slipknot, Muse, Daft Punk, VNV Nation, Franz Ferdinand, Electric Six, Buckcherry, Santana, Depeche Mode, Disturbed, The Chemical Brothers, The Prodigy.
  • Faavourite musicians: Haydn, Mozart, Bizet, Vivaldi.
  • Favourite writers: Stephen King, Aldous Huxley, Tibor Fischer, Sophie Kinsella, Darren Shan, Joseph Delaney, Cella Serghi, Anne Rice, Thomas Harris, Marian Keyes. Others, from whom I only read one book, but found them amazing: Nichita Danilov, Andrew Davidson, Michael Cordy, Joey Goebel, Stephen Fry,  Vladimir Nabokov, Mitch Albom, J. D. Salinger, Oscar Wilde.
  • What I do: Act as if I care, Annoy people.
  • What I'd like to do: Work in advertising.
  • What I can't stand: Stupidity, stupid people, stolidity [this should have been first], people who smell bad, manele [if you don't know what those are, consider yourself lucky and don't bother google-ing it], Justin Bieber's fans [I can ignore his music, because nobody can make me listen to it, but I have to deal with his fans daily, unfortunately], religious fanatics.
  • What I read, besides books: "Ştiinţă & Tehnică" magazine [tr. something like "Science and Technology"], National Geographic magazine.

What I'm planning to write about:

Here, I should mention a large range of stuff. I'm going to post anything I believe as being worth reading. From poems and songs I like, to what bothers me in today's society [this is what my other blog's about], to things I wrote and would like to share with you. I'll also try to make a few mini-reviews to books I've read in English. I hope this blog will be as enjoyable to my readers as it is to me.

Have a nice day,

Mary
